Toenail Fungus Home Remedies

You can also try adding in thyme oil to the treatment, leave on for 10 to 15 minutes then gently clean with a toothbrush so the oil gets underneath the nail too. Use Tea tree oil toenail fungus home remedies for a few weeks as the fungus can be in deep within the nail or the nail bad.
- Listerine – Yes the mouthwash, probably one of the more surprising toenail fungus home remedies! Listerine is an antiseptic that can also be used for toenail fungus. Try soaking your toes in Listerine or add apple cider vinegar to it which is also good for treating fungal infections. Soak for twenty minutes at least each time and do at least once a day of not more. Since this can take a lot of these liquids to make these foot soaks you can try painting your nails with the mixture or soak some cotton in it and place on the infection. After a week there should be improvement but continue for longer to get completely free. Remember to dry your feet and toes thoroughly after soaking.
- Apple cider vinegar – also a common home remedy for yeast infections it can be diluted with warm water to soak your toes in. This method may not be as effective just on its own and may need to be used alongside another treatment.
- Lavender oil – Mix with tea tree oil and drop on a cotton swam and dab around the area tow or three times a day. Try warming the oils slightly to improve how well they are absorbed into the infected area. Because they are volatile oils be sure to dilute them first in a carrier oil like olive oil.
- Oregano oil – Use with olive oil and use on infection for no more than 3 weeks. Oregano is another oil that has anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties.
As with any home remedy some things work better for some than others and it may be a case of trial and error before you find toenail fungus home remedies that are effective for you. However if after a period of trying several treatments there has been no improvement at all, you need to see your doctor. He or she can confirm whether it is a toenail fungus infection and can help with treatment options. It may be you need to use a medicated treatment, or a combination of the two.
